As a Patient Observation Assistant, you will monitor patients under the supervision of an RN and unit manager, document observations, and respond to needs with compassion. The role offers a fixed pay rate of $17.00 per hour with possible shift differentials.

Qualifications

• Provides visual and audible observation of assigned patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) and unit manager.
• Completes observation reports at established interval.
• Interacts hospitably with staff, patients, visitors and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Visually and audibly monitors the assigned patient's condition and behavior at all times.
• Completes observation reports at established interval.
• Takes initiative in compassionately rendering service or responding to needs.
• Remains at the bedside of the patient at all times unless relieved by an appropriate staff member.
• Verbally redirects the patient from engaging in at-risk behaviors.
• Escalates to medical professionals when patient distress is detected.
• Assists in maintaining a safe patient environment and reporting hazards.
• Assists with keeping patient rooms safe and orderly.
• Accompanies patient during diagnostic testing.
• Summons nursing staff if assistance is required or in case of unusual behavior.
