Job summary

Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network seeks a Patient Service Representative to deliver high-quality patient service and ensure efficient operations in a busy outpatient setting.

You will handle scheduling, pre-registration, registration, insurance verification, and authorization tasks while supporting front-desk operations and coordinating referrals. This role emphasizes accuracy, compassion, and teamwork across Hartford HealthCare facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years in medical or healthcare office experience.
• Proficiency in healthcare terminology and billing practices.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets and registers arriving patients, completes registration forms and verifies insurance.
• Answers incoming calls, evaluates priority, and directs calls according to urgency and subject matter.
• Provides information to new patients prior to visit and enters/updates patient demographics.
• Collects co-pays and office charges and explains billing policies to patients.
• Schedules new patient appointments and informs patients of essential preparation requirements.
• Schedules follow-up appointments and completes necessary requisition forms and pre-cert exams.
• Resolves patient/clinician issues and brings concerns to team lead or manager as needed.
• Maintains inventory of office supplies and keeps an orderly reception area.
• Provides back-up support to front desk staff and collaborates to improve workflows.
