Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Patient Care Assistant/Unit Administrative Assistant (PCA/UAA) to support the interprofessional team in delivering high-quality care. You will perform ADL tasks under nurse supervision, assist with bed management, calls to physicians, and unit coordination, while maintaining ICARE values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Eighteen months CNA/CMA/PCA experience is required.
• One year of secretarial/office training or six months cross-training at Houston Methodist.
• BLS certification (Basic Life Support) is required.
• Prior healthcare experience and/or medical terminology knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer unit telephone calls and direct transfers as appropriate.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families and staff to support care delivery.
• Assist with activities of daily living and basic patient care under supervision.
• Coordinate with physicians, units and administration to ensure smooth patient flow.
