Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support patient care under RN/LPN supervision. The position is full-time (36 hours per week) with 12-hour night shifts (6:30p-7:00a) in the 5H Surgical department.

New hires may advance along the UAP ladder (PCA, PCT, NT) based on qualifications and experience, with a comprehensive orientation and on-the-job training. Mercy offers strong benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; PCA role with 175-hour training program within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred EMT, Paramedic, or prior patient care experience (PCA, CNA, or active nursing student).
• BLS certification due within one month of hire; PCT competencies within 3 months of hire.
• Minimum physical requirements: push/pull/lift 50 pounds; prolonged standing/walking; bending, kneeling, reaching, squatting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in individualized patient care under the direction of an RN or LPN to support patient wellness.
• Perform designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to patient care.
• Collaborate with the team to meet group goals and ensure quality care.
