Job summary

Vassar Brothers Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the Nursing Department in the General Surgical unit. You will assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and routine patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting accurately, and communicating changes to the care team. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and obtain AHA BLS certification within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• AHA BLS certification course required within 90 days from hire date.
• Minimum of three months experience as a PCT or current nursing student in a related program.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient care tasks under RN supervision.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and transport of patients.
• Record vital signs and measurements; report abnormalities promptly.
• Communicate with health care team to solve problems and document on hospital forms.
• Maintain cleanliness and restock patient care supplies.
