Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to provide direct patient care on an inpatient unit. You will assist with routine nursing tasks, monitor patient comfort, and support RN guidance in caring for stable patients.

The role emphasizes accurate documentation in the electronic medical record, patient flow through admissions and transfers, and participation in quality and safety initiatives to promote high standards of care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience as PCA/PCT/NA/LPN/EMT or equivalent; military hospital background accepted.
• 1 year in acute or long‑term care or nursing program in progress.
• Basic computer skills; familiarity with IV insertion, phlebotomy, catheterization.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents direct patient care and activities such as ADLs and mobility.
• Assists with admissions, discharges and transfers on the inpatient unit.
• Accurately documents vital signs, I&O, EKGs and treatments.
• Participates in unit quality and patient safety initiatives and precepts new staff.
