Job summary

Great River Health Systems Fort Madison, IA seeks a Patient Care Technician for the Medical Surgical Unit. 36 hours weekly, 6:00am–6:30pm, every other weekend/holiday. Includes a $2,500 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.

Provides basic patient care under a licensed nurse, supports adults and geriatrics, documents care, and uses safety devices and alarms. CNA completion (or in progress) is required.

Qualifications

• Completion of CNA course (or complete within four months of hire date) is required.
• Health care experience within last five years preferred.
• Emergency First Response and Choking within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Answer call lights promptly and fulfill requests.
• Perform skin assessments and notify licensed nurse of abnormalities.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Maintain clean patient rooms and change linens as needed.
• Collect and label specimens (urine, feces, sputum).
• Transport patients in wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Document activities accurately in the medical record.
• Monitor intake/output and Vital signs; report changes.
