Job summary

University of Southern California is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for 7 N Tele on the Health Sciences Campus in Los Angeles. This full-time, 12-hour day shift (non-exempt, union) supports nursing staff with patient care, documentation, and unit organization under RN direction.

Responsibilities include timely response to calls, vital signs, hygiene, mobility, and accurate charting. Requires CNA, BLS, and LA Fire Life Safety Training; HS diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• Requires High School or equivalent.
• Prefers 1 year of healthcare experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written.
• CNA certification required.
• BLS Healthcare Provider certification required.
• Fire Life Safety Training approved in LA City or obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Respond to patient calls within 10 minutes.
• Assist with vital signs, daily weights, intake and output, and hygiene.
• Support mobility, transfers, and positioning every 2 hours.
• Maintain clean and organized patient rooms and equipment.
• Document care provided and communicate changes to the RN/Charge Nurse.
