Job summary

USC Keck Hospital seeks a Patient Care Technician to support nursing staff with patient care, clerical duties, and unit maintenance. The role adapts focus by unit, ensuring timely responses, safety, and quality care.

You will document care, assist with meals and mobility, and work closely with RNs to implement the patient plan of care while maintaining a compassionate, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year experience in a health care setting.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CA DPH).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) if not on hire, within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Respond to patient call within 10 minutes and anticipate needs.
• Proactively rounds to reduce patient calls and keeps rooms organized.
• Assist with meals, hygiene, ambulation, and transfers.
• Document care including vital signs, intake/output, and equipment used.
• Communicate plan of care to patients and families with RN support.
• Maintain safety: call lights within reach and clean, uncluttered spaces.
• Collaborate with RN on patient data collection and care delivery.
