Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Chicago is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support Registered Nurses in direct and indirect patient care. You’ll help with admissions, vital signs, and routine tasks while maintaining safety and quality of care for patients across units.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to policies, and compassionate bedside presence, with opportunities to advance through ongoing training and clinical exposure.

Qualifications

• CNA certification or current enrollment in nursing school with clinical rotations.
• BLS/CPR certification by the American Heart Association.
• High school diploma; some college or nursing education preferred.
• Prior health care experience preferred with patient interaction ability.

Responsibilities

• Assist with admission, transfer and discharge; support RN in direct care.
• Take vitals, record measurements, and monitor patients closely.
• Collect specimens, perform glucose checks, and assist with routine procedures.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and respond to nurse calls promptly.
• Support newborn care, feeding, and basic patient comfort measures.
