Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support a decentralized, patient-centered care approach. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will perform multi-skilled nursing tasks, supervise others, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver age-appropriate care aligned with nursing standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements: At least 1 year work experience in a .6fte PCT I position at MUSC CHS or 1 year of patient care work experience in a health care facility; or a college degree, or active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution; or active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution; or a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant, or equivalent training.
• Credentials: Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
• Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care.
• Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment with patient privacy and professional behavior.
• Coordinates delivery of patient care using care management principles and identifies priorities to improve outcomes.
