The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support a decentralized, patient-centered care approach under RN supervision. The role includes measuring and documenting vital signs, moving and positioning patients, and reporting concerns to the care team.

Strong communication, empathy, and organizational skills are essential to assist the Nurse Manager and Charge Nurse.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of patient care work experience in a health care facility or CNA preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required on hire and maintained thereafter.

Aufgaben

• Keep patient rooms tidy and sanitized
• Assist patients with everyday needs (personal hygiene, using the restroom, grooming, etc.)
• Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse etc.) or EKG signals and patient condition
• Assist nursing staff in administering basic treatments
• Ensure rooms have adequate patient care supplies, linen is clean
• Assist patients with particular issues or needs
• Provide appropriate emotional support
• Place patient on cardiac monitor
• Empty drains, ostomies, foley bags
• Perform blood sugar checks
• Assist with other duties assigned by the department leader
