Job summary

Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, OH seeks a Patient Care Tech to provide direct patient care under RN guidance, ensuring safety and high-quality service. You will assist with basic care, documentation, transfers, and patient comfort in a faith-based setting.

Requirements include nursing aide training or STNA/CNA or equivalent experience, with BLS preferred and EPIC EHR familiarity. This role emphasizes teamwork, compassionate care, and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care).
• Must have completed one of the following: nursing aide training program OR STNA/ CNA OR Nurses Aide state testing OR completed a nursing program with clinical course OR 1 year of relevant clinical experience.
• EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred).
• Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long term care facility (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including care, comfort, vital sign measurement, hygiene, and mobility assistance.
• Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and concerns.
• Delivers high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and in a timely manner.
• Participates in hand-off/report of patient and departmental needs during transitions.
• Performs delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Mobilizes patients using transfer techniques that promote independence and safety.
• Encourages patient independence and tailors care to individual needs.
