Job summary

PCH Princeton Community Hospital in Bluefield, WV is seeking a dedicated patient care assistant to perform nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will support admission, transfers, discharges, record vital signs, assist with hygiene and comfort, and help maintain a safe, clean environment.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, obtains Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire, and brings prior patient care experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe and report patient concerns to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assist with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Record vital signs and assist with hygiene and comfort measures.
• Record oral intake and outputs and monitor basic parameters.
• Assist with specimen collection and other patient care activities.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment to prevent infections.
• Report equipment issues to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicate nutrition concerns to the RN and document changes.
• Support department operations and answer patient call bells.
