Job summary

Penn Medicine's Pennsylvania Hospital is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Tech on the 6 Cathcart Team for day shift. The CNA role supports RN supervision and delivers high-quality patient care on a surgical unit.

The position emphasizes teamwork, safety, and compassionate care, with opportunities to participate in RN/CNA handoffs and quality improvement efforts, while promoting a positive patient environment at Penn Medicine.

Qualifications

• CNA Certification required by PA or RN without BSN.
• BLS certification required by American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates genuine care for the patient with active listening and respectful care.
• Active participation in daily RN/CNA handoffs and unit huddles.
• Communicate with patients to ascertain feelings or need for assistance.
• Answer patient call signals, signal lights, bells, or intercom systems to determine needs.
• Provide physical support to assist patients with ADLs and promote independence.
• Timely notification and escalation of data or clinical information.
• Gather information from caregivers, nurses, or physicians about patient condition.
• Collect and record vital signs as directed by staff.
• Document observations to nurses and care team.
• Demonstrate flexibility to unit needs and changes in patient acuity.
• Demonstrate safe patient handling and hand hygiene.
• Support quality and safety initiatives within the unit.
• Contribute to a positive, caring, healing patient environment.
