Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Patient Care Tech to join our team and support clinicians in delivering patient-centered care. The role involves a range of bedside tasks, specimen handling, EKG collection, and assistance with daily activities per the patient’s plan of care.

Candidates must have a CNA program completion or be a nursing student with clinical rotation and maintain BLS certification. The position emphasizes safety, collaboration, and ongoing training within NM’s care environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited CNA program and listed on the Illinois CNA Registry OR nursing student who has completed one clinical rotation.
• BLS through American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of clinical/patient care functions under RN/physician supervision.
• Collects, labels and transports specimens.
• Obtains 12 lead EKGs.
• Discontinues Saline Locks and Indwelling Urinary Catheters.
• Discontinues Telemetry Monitoring packs and performs Point of Care Testing as appropriate.
• Assists with personal hygiene, nutritional needs and patient ambulation.
• Performs hourly patient rounding with the RN and documents care data.
