Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support nursing care in our Lake Forest, IL facilities. The role involves assisting with daily patient needs, vital signs, specimen handling, and basic procedures under RN supervision.

The ideal candidate will have a CNA certification or be a nursing student with clinical rotation and current BLS. You will contribute to a compassionate, safe environment and participate in performance improvement initiatives within the NM system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CNA certification and Illinois CNA Registry listing, or nursing student with one clinical rotation.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Collect, label and transport specimens as assigned.
• Obtain 12-lead EKGs.
• Discontinue saline locks and urinary catheters.
• Discontinue telemetry monitoring packs.
• Assist with personal hygiene and nutrition per care plan.
• Conduct hourly patient rounding with RN.
• Document patient care data as directed.
• Assist with ambulation and positioning.
• Respond to patient call lights promptly and professionally.
• Support a safe clinical environment for patients, families and staff.
• Participate in ongoing training and performance improvement.
