Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a Nursing Attendant to join the patient care team. The role supports everyday patient activities, helps with hygiene and mobility, and ensures a safe, clean environment across units.

Responsibilities include vital signs, specimen collection, and assistance with procedures. Candidates should have a State Certified Nursing Program credential and strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate of State Certified Nursing Program is required.
• 1–3 years of clinical experience as a nursing student or foreign graduate nurse preferred.
• Effective English communication skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (eating, bathing, ambulation) for patients across age groups.
• Meet hygiene and grooming needs (bathing, hair care, oral care).
• Support mobility (ROM, ambulation, transfers, use of braces).
• Maintain skin integrity using pressure-relief devices and turning.
• Provide patient comfort (bed making, positioning, back rubs).
• Assist with elimination needs and urinary catheter care; document outputs.
• Maintain a safe environment and respond to call bells per policy.
• Provide rest and sleep support; ensure quiet environment.
• Follow infection control policies and discard soiled linen properly.
• Obtain and document vital signs and notify RN of variances.
• Transport patients and medical records as directed.
• Assist with prepping patients for procedures and surgeries.
• Participate in performance improvement activities.
