Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Patient Care Associate to support the clinical care team in the Specialty Service. The role involves assisting the registered nurse with patient care activities, performing procedures, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.

The candidate will perform tasks such as collecting specimens, documenting vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant/Patient Care Assistant program or equivalent with skills in venipuncture and EKG.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate with other members of the Specialty Service.
• Documentation of Medical Assistant/Patient Care Associate training.
• Three to nine months of healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to set priorities, problem solve, use proper judgement in difficult situations and be flexible.
• Sufficient oral and writing skills in English to communicate effectively.
• Physical stamina and manual dexterity for a variety of tasks.
• Americans Heart Association Heartsaver or BLS Certification

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with patient care activities and ADLs.
• Record vital signs and document intake/output.
• Perform clinical procedures such as venipuncture, EKG, specimen collection.
• Maintain safe, clean environment and transport patients as needed.
• Assist with dietary functions and meal delivery.
• Monitor patient safety and elopement risk as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with policies.

Education

High School Diploma (graduate or equivalent)

Certificate of completion of a medical assistant/patient care assistant program/equivalent

American Heart Association Heartsaver or BLS Certification
