Job summary

Brigham and Women’s Hospital is seeking a patient care assistant to support licensed staff in direct patient care at the 75 Francis Street location. You will assist with daily living activities, take vital signs, and help with basic hygiene tasks during night shifts.

The role requires strong patient communication, basic medical terminology, and the ability to lift up to 35 pounds while documenting care in the electronic medical record. Onsite work with a focus on compassionate care is essential.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.
• Licenses and Credentials include BLS, CMA, EMT-Paramedic, LNA (various issuers) - Massachusetts/NH preferred.
• Experience: 1-2 years in patient care/elder care preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions; knowledge of medical terminology; strong patient/customer service; ability to lift up to 35 pounds; proficient with electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame.
• Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
• Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
• Assists with basic hygiene tasks (bathing, dressing, toilet, feeding).
• Assists with turning and repositioning patients and transfers between bed and wheelchair.
• Listens to health concerns and reports them to the nurses.
