Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Patient Access Representative who will be the first point of contact for patients, delivering compassionate service and accurate data capture. You will guide patients through scheduling, registration, benefit verification and financial clearance with attention to Mercy Service Standards.

The role requires 1-3 years clerical/customer service experience; familiarity with medical terminology and insurance plans is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; some college helpful.
• 1-3 years clerical and customer service experience preferred.
• Experience with medical terminology or insurance plans preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient entrance including scheduling, registration and pre-certification.
• Verify benefits and obtain accurate patient data for the record and financial clearance.
• Maintain knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines and accreditation standards.
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and hospital staff.
