Job summary

Mesa Hills Post Acute in Brownsville is seeking a dedicated nursing assistant to support the Nursing Department and staff with a wide range of bedside and administrative tasks. This role emphasizes resident safety, clear communication, and adherence to facility policies.

You will answer phones, report changes to the Nurse Supervisor, assist with rounds, and help maintain clean, organized resident rooms and common areas while observing safety and infection-control procedures.

Qualifications

• Must possess, as a minimum, an 8th grade education.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Become familiar with the facility's administrative structure as introduced in orientation.
• Report accidents/incidents to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse on shift.
• Report changes in resident condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse as soon as practical.
• Answer phones, especially during mealtimes.
• Assist with errands for residents and staff.
• Assist with secretarial tasks at the nursing station as requested.
• Maintain orderly/clean resident rooms and common areas.
• Follow policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
• Ensure residents who cannot call for help are checked frequently.
• Answer call bells promptly and report needs to CNA/Nurse.
