Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Detroit seeks a Nurse Assistant to support RNs in patient care across shifts. You will assist with admissions, transfers and discharges, help patients with bathing, dressing, feeding and mobility, and maintain a clean, safe environment while documenting care provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Completion of a Nurse Assistant program.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program with Fundamentals of Nursing completed.
• Foreign trained RN relocating to the United States without Michigan license.
• Medical Assistant program with or without experience.
• At least one year of NA, PCT, PAT, or similar experience.
• CNA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains effective, professional, and appropriate communication during all patient, family encounters and healthcare team member interactions.
• Identifies concerns related to patients, staff, and self, and communicates with the responsible RN.
• Assists the RN in admitting, transferring, and discharging of patients.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to patients’ comfort and privacy and is engaged in patients’ care.
• Maintains a clean, safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with HFHS standards.
• Recognizes and responds to emergencies and alarms and immediately communicates situations to appropriate persons.
• Documents patient care provided.
• Performs general clerical duties as assigned.
• Provides personal care assistance to patients, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, comfort, and transportation.
• Makes necessary supply deliveries to patient rooms and ancillary departments.
• Performs other related duties as required within the scope of practice.
