Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join a 34-bed unit. The role supports nursing staff with basic care, vital signs, and activities of daily living, while ensuring safety and clean, organized rooms.

Responsibilities include clerical tasks, responding to calls, and prioritizing patient needs. CPR/BLS certification required; nursing students with clinical rotation or CNA/CMA/EMT certification are eligible.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates flexibility, organization and multi-tasking in a fast-paced unit.
• Maintains professional conduct and adheres to patient-care protocols.
• CPR – Basic Life Support certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN.
• Monitors vital signs, glucose, and intake/output; reports abnormalities.
• Assists with ADLs: bathing, grooming, eating; keeps rooms clean and orderly.
• Prioritizes unit workflow with RN charge and assists as needed.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
