Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support nursing staff in delivering high-quality care. Under RN supervision, you will perform basic patient care activities, monitor vital signs, assist with daily living tasks, and ensure clean, organized patient rooms.

The role emphasizes teamwork, quick thinking, and strong communication in a fast-paced environment. This full-time night shift (7:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing student with one semester of clinical.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and recording intake and output.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating).
• Reports abnormal findings or changes to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and multitasking in a high-stress environment.
• Prioritizes unit work and communicates with other staff as needs change.
• Serves as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers calls and communicates information to staff, family, or patient.
• Manages overall unit workflow with charge RN or manager when needed.
• Performs pre-census and validates daily admission/discharge lists as needed.
