Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained during orientation.
• RQI training may be required by department.

Responsibilities

• Performs hourly rounding.
• Clerical tasks including chart maintenance, answering telephones, and entering physician orders in Meditech.
• Coordinates patient flow with the charge nurse to maintain interdepartmental communication.
• Assists with patient care and non-patient care tasks within scope of practice; documents in Meditech as appropriate.
• Assists with patient/family teaching when appropriate.
• Maintains supplies and equipment; enters outpatient and observation room charges.
• Adheres to safety and infection control standards; uses effective communication with team.
• Fosters a positive, caring relationship with patients and families; promotes a good patient experience.
• Maintains open communication with professional staff and clarifies unclear information.
