Job summary

The Medication Technician is responsible for providing the highest level of compassionate, quality resident care and services by assisting residents with medication administration and activities of daily living, in accordance with their personalized service plans.

This includes documenting, delivering, and administering or assisting with treatments and medications as prescribed by physicians, in a safe, organized manner and in accordance with all policies, procedures, government regulations, and

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED), required.
• Certification or education as required by state regulations.
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid CPR & First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with their daily medications, treatments, and resident care as assigned and within the scope of and in strict adherence with practice, policy, procedures, and government regulations.
• Notify Supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered according to directions and document the reason(s) why.
• Maintain clear, accurate, complete, and confidential records on resident medication and care in accordance with established procedures and governing requirements.
• Track all orders for medication changes and/or refills, notify the pharmacy of new orders, and report any missing medications to the Supervisor.
• Assist caregivers in the performance of their job duties by fulfilling the responsibilities of the Caregiver job description.
• Document appropriate information, including incident reports, and communicate any observed or suspected resident change of condition to a supervisor immediately.
