Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Chesapeake, VA seeks a Medication Aide to assist with med administration, resident activities, and daily living tasks, while maintaining EMAR/MAR documentation and upholding safety and confidentiality.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of the Medication Aide Course, and active CNA and Med Tech licenses. Lifting, weekend shifts, and CPR/First Aid certification are needed; 401k, benefits, and flexible scheduling are offered.

Qualifications

• Must have HS diploma or GED.
• Must have completed the Medication Aide Course.
• Must possess CNA and Med Tech licenses in good standing.
• Must satisfactorily pass 2 medication observations annually.
• Must satisfactorily pass all medication cart audits assigned.
• Must attend 4 additional hours of medication administration education annually.
• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in-writing.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and push or carry 25 lbs.
• Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
• Must be CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become certified within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the administration of prescribed medications within scope.
• Maintain knowledge of policies and procedures pertaining to the position.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living.
• Report incidents and care concerns to appropriate individuals.
• Perform housekeeping duties as directed by supervisor.
• Respond promptly to resident calls for assistance or emergencies.
• Assist in planning activity programs for residents.
• Follow confidentiality policies for resident information.
• Assist residents to and from dining and activities.
• Check on residents, meals, and activity attendance.
• Check on residents who are ill and report status to appropriate individuals.
• Communicate resident status and appointments in writing and verbally.
• Assist new residents with move-in transition and provide emotional support.
• Attend medication trainings as scheduled.
• Complete medication cart audits and maintain the cart.
• Pass all medication administration observations.
• Document medication needs in EMAR/Daily Log and report exceptions.
• Re-orders medications and communicate changes with family as needed.
