Job summary

The Washington Hospital Center in Maryland is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform both clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under the supervision of a physician/provider, with potential to float to other sites within the MedStar system.

You will assist with venipuncture, vaccines, vital signs, patient education, and follow-up tasks while supporting team-based care and maintaining regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; MA program completion preferred.
• Less than 1 year ambulatory care experience required; externship preferred.
• Cardiology offices only: 6 months ambulatory care experience or related degree preferred.
• Certification: CMA-AAMA or RMA-AMT within 1 year; CPR within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to quality and safety standards.
• Assists providers with patient exams, prep, and education; supports patient flow.
• Screens patients for preventative care needs and barriers to care during visits.
• Documents activities in EMR and conducts follow-up such as referrals and tests.
• Participates in population health activities and care transitions.
• Provides telephone screening to determine disposition and next steps.
• Floats to other sites within the system as needed and attends required meetings.
