Job summary

Required qualifications include MA certification (or training with eventual certification within 18 months), BLS CPR, and at least 2 years of clinical office experience.

Qualifications

• Must be certified Medical Assistant at hire or must complete a MA training program or have two years of MA experience.
• If MA training or two years experience, must obtain MA certification within 18 months of hire.
• Grandfathered in terms of education for pre-2021 hires; certification may be required moving forward.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Proficiency in basic clinical skills (phlebotomy, BP, EKG, injections) required.
• Knowledge of infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality policies.

Responsibilities

• Greet and escort patients to exam rooms in a timely, courteous manner.
• Review patient charts to ensure reports and results are available before exams.
• Obtain and document patient chief complaint and vitals.
• Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Draw blood and prepare specimens for labs, following payer requirements.
• Document all patient activities, responses, meds, and instructions in the chart.
• Communicate provider instructions to patients; maintain confidentiality.
• Support scheduling of future appointments, surgeries, and tests.
