Job summary

Ochsner Health in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide individualized patient care under the supervision of a licensed clinician. You will support patients and providers during visits, prepare patients and rooms, and document information in the electronic health record.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, completion of a MA training program, Medical Assistant Certification, and BLS.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED; preferred: completion of a formal Medical Assistant training program.
Experience: work experience with confidential information in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Certifications: Medical Assistant Certification; BLS from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

Supports the patient and provider throughout the patient visit.
Ensures the patient and provider are prepared for the visit.
Answers patient questions prior to leaving and prepares room for next appointment.
Provides excellent patient service through effective communication both in person and over the phone.
Completes appropriate documentation including patient registration if necessary.
Maintains clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials through ongoing development.
Complies with DOT Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Programs when in occupational health settings.
Adapts communication to diverse patient populations and maintains privacy.
Performs other duties as assigned and adheres to policies and standards.
