Job summary

Ochsner Health in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide individualized patient care under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider. You will assist during visits, document in electronic health records, and support both patients and providers to ensure smooth flow of the visit.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, completion of a medical assistant training program, and valid Medical Assistant Certification along with BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Formal medical assistant training program preferred.
• Experience handling confidential information in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Medical Assistant Certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

• Supports the patient and provider throughout the patient visit.
• Ensures the patient and provider are prepared for the visit.
• Answers patient questions prior to leaving and prepares room for the next appointment.
• Delivers excellent patient service via phone and in person.
• Completes appropriate documentation including patient registration when necessary.
• Maintains clinical knowledge and credentials through ongoing professional development.
