Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide individualized patient care under supervision, both in person and via phone. You will support the patient and provider throughout visits, help with preparation and questions, and document information in the medical record.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, and preferred completion of a formal medical assistant program with Medical Assistant Certification and BLS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of a formal medical assistant training program is preferred.
• Medical Assistant Certification and BLS from American Heart Association are required.

Responsibilities

• Supports the patient and provider throughout the patient visit.
• Ensures the patient and provider are prepared for the visit.
• Answers patient questions prior to leaving and prepares room for next appointment.
• Provides excellent patient service through effective communication both over the phone and in person.
• Completes appropriate documentation including patient registration when necessary.
• Maintains clinical knowledge and credentials through ongoing professional development.
• Complies with Department of Transportation testing programs if working in an occupational health clinic.
