Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• 0-1 years related work experience.
• Basic familiarity with computers; ability to navigate web-based applications.
• MA, EMT, CNA, or LNA certificate or diploma; or at least 5 months of direct patient care experience (MA/PCT/CNA) or nursing/medical student with clinical rotation.
• Phlebotomy certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs medical assisting duties including vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy and assisting during routine procedures; escorts patients to radiology and lab.
• Performs point of care testing and specimen collection; implements quality control; provides patient instructions.
• Monitors, orders and maintains medical equipment and supplies; ensures expiration dates.
• Reviews medication lists in EMR; may retrieve schedule VI/OTC meds under supervision; not authorized for licensed personnel duties.
• Uses EMR to queue prescription renewals; documents tasks in EMR for billing.
• Prepares schedules, patient charts and documents for clinical activities; procures and correlates medical correspondence.
• Monitors patients and visitors; facilitates flow; informs delays; acts as liaison; ensures waiting room materials are stocked; may answer calls.
