Job summary

Brook View Neurological Centre in Worcester is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the kitchen team in preparing and delivering nutritious meals for residents. You will work alongside chefs, handle food preparation, portioning and assembly while ensuring dietary requirements are met and food hygiene standards are maintained.

The role requires a caring approach for individuals with neurological needs, flexibility, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment.
• Experience in a healthcare or care setting is desirable.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and health and safety requirements.
• Experience preparing meals for special dietary or texture-modified requirements is desirable.
• Flexible, proactive and willing to learn.
• Able to work under pressure and use initiative.
• Compassionate and respectful approach.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and delivery of nutritious, high-quality meals.
• Support basic cooking and meal preparation in line with planned menus.
• Chop, mix, portion and assemble ingredients with the kitchen team.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safe working practices.
• Manage stock rotation, food storage and temperature checks.
• Support meals for texture-modified and special dietary needs.
