Job summary

Apploi is seeking a Cook to support a care-focused kitchen. You will prepare meals according to planned menus, review dietary requirements, and collaborate with the dietary team to ensure residents receive nutritious, appealing meals in a respectful environment.

Responsibilities include meal preparation, serving, sanitation, inventory, and adherence to safety and infection-control policies, while maintaining a compassionate, resident-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, speak and understand English.
• Ability to follow instructions and accept constructive criticism.
• Ability to interact tactfully with residents, family members, staff and visitors.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.

Responsibilities

• Review menus prior to preparation of food
• Inspect special diet trays to assure correct diet for residents
• Complete necessary forms and reports
• Coordinate food service with other departments
• Work with the facility's dietitian and implement changes
• Prepare meals per planned menus
• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing
• Serve food per established portion control
• Prepare meals for therapeutic diets per menus
• Provide bedtime snacks
• Prepare food in accordance with sanitary regulations and policies
• Ensure safety regulations are followed by all personnel
• Follow Infection Control precautions daily
• Ensure food and supplies for next meal are ready
• Assist in inventorying and storing incoming supplies
• Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Dietary Director
• Honor resident's refusal of treatment
• Abide by resident participation in treatment decisions
• Document consequences of not participating in prescribed therapy
