Job summary

University of Southern California is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support nursing staff in patient care delivery, clerical tasks, and unit maintenance. The role involves responding to patient needs, assisting with meals, mobility, hygiene, and ensuring safe operation of equipment, under RN direction.

The PCT will document care, communicate patient data, and participate in care planning in collaboration with registered nurses.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Preferred 1 year experience in a healthcare setting.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CA DPH) certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing staff support in patient care delivery, clerical tasks, and unit environment maintenance.
• Assist with patient care activities such as vital signs, daily weights, intake and output, hygiene, mobility and feeding as directed by RNs.
• Document all care provided, including vital signs, intake/output, and equipment used.
• Communicate plan of care and patient needs with RNs and hospital departments.
