Job summary

Symbii Home Health and Hospice-Layton is seeking a homemaker for hospice care. You will work under an RN, delivering essential homemaker services and emotional support to patients at home, aligning with the IDG care plan.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, and 2 years nursing assistant experience is preferred. You may drive to patient locations and must follow safety protocols and hospice policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a nursing assistant, preferred.
• Active patient contact within past three years, preferred.
• Completed Hospice orientation.
• Ability to work independently and make quick judgments.
• Ability to respond appropriately to crisis outside of a hospital setting.
• Acceptance of and adaptability to different social, racial, cultural and religious modes.
• Must have access to transportation; valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Perform essential homemaker services to support patient wellbeing at home.
• Prepare meals including special diet.
• Assist with shopping if the patient has no other resource available.
• Provide emotional support and compassionate care to patient and family unit.
• Demonstrate listening skills.
• Offer encouragement when appropriate.
• Practice patience in voice and manner.
• Maintain required competency and skills.
• Report changes in patient’s condition or family situation to the RN.
• Follow OSHA Standard Precautions and policy.
• Adhere to all policies and procedural guidelines.
• Maintain knowledge of infectious disease protocols.
