Job summary

VITAS Healthcare is seeking a Home Health Aide (HHA) to provide compassionate, in-home care for hospice patients. This non-exempt role emphasizes personal care, daily activities, and support to families, under supervision of a VITAS nurse.

The HHA will perform duties including hygiene support, meal assistance, mobility aid, and simple in-home treatments while maintaining patient comfort and safety. Training and adherence to regulatory standards are required.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
• 75 hours of training as specified in 42 C.F.R. Sections 484.36 (a)(1).
• Competency Evaluation program completion as described in 42 C.F.R. Section 484.36(b).

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and services to hospice patients.
• Plan and prepare meals and assist with feeding.
• Assist patient ambulation and mobility.
• Assist with prescribed treatments and self-administered medications as allowed.
• Read, record, and report vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration).
• Maintain a safe and healthy home environment.
