Job summary

VITAS Healthcare seeks a Home Health Aide (HHA) to deliver essential personal care and support services to hospice patients in their homes. This non-exempt role emphasizes dignity, safety, and compassionate patient interactions.

The HHA will assist with daily activities such as hygiene, feeding, and mobility, while following physician orders and nurse supervision. Ongoing training and collaboration with the care team are required.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Meets personnel qualifications of a Home Health Aide as specified in 42 C.F.R. Section 484.4 and 484.36.
• Documented evidence of 75 hours of training as specified in 42 C.F.R. Sections 484.36 (a)(1).
• Documented evidence that Home Health Aide has successfully completed a Competency Evaluation program as described in 42 C.F.R. Section 484.36(b).

Responsibilities

• Maintain good personal hygiene for the patient.
• Plan and prepare meals; assist with feeding.
• Assist patient ambulation.
• Assist with treatments as ordered by physician and supervised by nurse.
• Read and record temperature, pulse and respiration.
• Maintain safe and healthy home environment.
• Provide emotional support to patient and family.
• Report changes to nurse and interdisciplinary team.
• Complete at least 12 hours of in-service training per year.
