Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a hospice aide to deliver compassionate personal care and support to patients at home. This full-time daytime position in Evansville, Indiana, emphasizes safety, meal assistance, and housekeeping tasks in line with the patient care plan.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, state CNA certification, recent CNA experience, CPR certification, and a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and insurance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant as per state requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics for personal and supportive care (ambulation, transfers, ROM and positioning, light household chores).
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals; assists with feeding.
• Performs homemaking and environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents changes in patient status; reports to the primary nurse when unable to perform tasks.
• Follows written instructions from a registered nurse per the plan of care.
• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by a nurse or therapist.
• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Other duties as assigned.
