Job summary

Planned Parenthood South Atlantic is seeking a Health Care Assistant to welcome patients, support clinicians, and manage front-desk operations. The role includes documenting visits, assisting with procedures, and guiding patients on billing and insurance matters.

The position emphasizes compassionate, nonjudgmental reproductive healthcare and collaboration across the health center to ensure efficient patient flow and quality care.

Qualifications

• Front desk responsibilities and patient workflow familiarity.
• Experience in healthcare or clinical settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accurate and complete documentation including charts and logs.
• Provide education by telephone or in-person with non-judgmental support on reproductive and sexual health.
• Verify and interpret insurance coverage and benefits both electronically and by phone.
• Assist clinician with patient referrals and document appointments in the chart.
• Provide telephone coverage for incoming calls and assist with center appointments.
• Communicate clinic fee scale and pricing information, including copayments/coinsurance.
• Handle patient fee receipts and reconcile computer journals with daily deposits.
• Ensure patients complete forms and obtain consents for services.
• Follow procedures for processing OTC and prescription medications and birth control supplies.
• Maintain adequate supply stock to keep the health center running smoothly.
• Record-keeping in electronic health records and patient filing systems.
• Collaborate with the team to meet productivity and customer satisfaction goals.
• Serve as laboratory testing personnel and perform related tasks as required.
