Job summary

Legacy Funeral Group in Texas is seeking a part-time Funeral Assistant/Attendant to support funeral directors and assist with services, transport, and family needs. The role includes clerical tasks, answering phones, and ensuring proper care and handling of items.

Responsibilities include assisting with removals, arranging floral setups, ushering, vehicle transport, and helping families with service logistics, while maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Able to use a computer and type.
• Proficient in MS Office suite and willingness to learn other software.
• Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Able to work and communicate effectively with others.
• Able to maintain composure in challenging situations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and pull/push 200 lbs or more of removals.
• Able to pass a Background Check.

Responsibilities

• Assist with removals of decedents (varies by location).
• Assist with preparing, dressing, and placing decedents into casket.
• Prepare for services by delivering and setting up floral arrangements, chairs, caskets, urns, photos, and other keepsakes; store items properly.
• Prepare documents related to services, cremations, and maintenance as directed by management.
• Perform office duties including answering phones, operating fax, computers, and multi-line phone systems.
• Run errands such as floral deliveries and supply pick-ups.
• Serve as an usher, assist with parking, and fulfill transportation requirements.
• Drive funeral home vehicles for services and family transportation.
• Assist with visitations, memorials, and funeral services including chapel setup and delivery of family items.
• Greet and assist client families and visitors, providing information and support.
