Job summary

Appone is seeking a Funeral Assistant to ensure services, visitations, and memorials run smoothly with dignity. You will work under the Funeral Director, delivering compassionate customer service to grieving families and handling logistics.

The role combines empathy, professionalism, and strong organization, with duties from ushering and transport to facility upkeep and administrative tasks. Hours may include evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts, with work in chapel, office, and cemetery

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
Experience in customer service, hospitality, or caregiving is highly preferred.
Funeral service experience is a plus but not required.
Must be able to stand long periods and lift heavy objects.
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

Greet grieving family members and guests with a warm, supportive welcome.
Direct attendees to seating and assist with mobility restrictions.
Assist Funeral Director with service logistics, including floral arrangements and programs.
Act as pallbearer when requested and help organize funeral procession lines.
Prepare chapels and reception areas; manage setup and breakdown.
Safely transport deceased when needed and support transport to cemetery or crematory.
Hours are often irregular, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Work environment alternates between indoor and outdoor cemetery settings.
