Job summary

SCI is seeking a Funeral Services Assistant in Metairie, LA. You will support funeral operations, greet families and provide information, and assist during services and visitations.

Responsibilities include setting up and delivering floral pieces, managing office duties, and helping with remains preparation under supervision. A high school diploma and valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred.
• Some MS Office suite and databases preferred; ability and willingness to learn required.
• Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for services: deliver and set up floral arrangements, chairs, caskets, urns, photos, keepsakes.
• May prepare documents related to services and cremations as directed by management.
• Assist with preparation of remains and operation of crematory as permitted by law and company rules.
• Perform office duties: phones, fax, computer, multi-line phone system, card machine, postage, scale, stereo/video.
• Run errands for floral delivery, supplies, documents, etc.
• Serve as usher and assist during funeral services.
• May drive funeral home vehicles for services and family pickups.
• Prepare coffee/tea and set up reception area for services.
• Assist with visitations and viewings, chapel setup, delivering family items and flowers.
• Greet and assist client families entering the office for information and help.
• Accommodate family needs during services/visits.
• Clean and restock areas after services; parlor, chapel, reception, restrooms.
• Occasional vehicle washing for funeral home vehicles.
• Other duties as assigned.
