Job summary

SCI in Port Arthur, TX is seeking a Funeral Services Assistant to provide clerical and administrative support for funeral operations. You will greet families, answer questions, and assist during services while upholding company policies and compassion for grieving families.

The role includes preparing for services, handling documents, assisting with remains, driving and transportation duties, and coordinating office tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous customer service and/or sales experience preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office suite and databases; ability and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for services, delivers and sets up floral arrangements, chairs, caskets, urns, photos and keepsakes.
• Prepares documents related to services and cremations as directed by management.
• Assists with preparation of remains, including dressing and lifting, or crematory operation as permitted by law.
• Answers phones, operates office equipment and multi-line phone system.
• Run errands for supplies and floral deliveries.
• Acts as usher, park car(s), and perform transportation as needed.
• Drives funeral home vehicles for services and family transport.
• Ensures refreshments are available where allowed by law.
• Assists with visitations, memorials and funeral services; set-up and dressing of remains.
• Greets client families and others, providing information and assistance.
