Job summary

Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio is seeking an Elder Assistant to support elders with daily living activities, meals, and social engagement on a site-based role. You will help with personal care, mobility, and room upkeep while promoting a safe, respectful living environment.

The role requires English proficiency, compassion for older adults, and completion of annual training including dementia-specific modules and First Aid certification where applicable.

Qualifications

• Willingness to care for older adults and commitment to the organization’s mission.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Annual training requirements including 8 hours in-service and 4 hours dementia training (if on a dementia unit); First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing and personal care.
• Transport elders to activities, meals and appointments.
• Serve meals and assist with dietary needs and compliance.
• Conduct activities to engage and enrich elders’ lives.
• Clean and maintain elder rooms, common areas and workspaces.
• Assist with incontinence care and morning/evening routines.
• Monitor and report changes to the Charge Nurse.
