Job summary

Arc of Acadiana is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist residents in Community Group Homes, promoting safety, dignity, independence, and quality of life. You will support daily routines, personal care, and community involvement in a home-like setting.

This role offers day, evening, and night shifts with full-time and part-time options. Training, CMA support, and ongoing guidance are provided to help you succeed in the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Previous experience in direct care or caregiving is preferred but not required.
• Dependable, caring, and able to work as part of a team.
• Able to follow instructions and use good judgment.
• Good communication skills.
• A valid driver’s license is required when transportation support is needed.
• Evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, mobility, personal hygiene).
• Encourage independence and participation while providing supervision and support.
• Help residents build daily living, social, and functional skills per individual plans.
• Remain with residents on duty and maintain safety and supervision, including overnight shifts.
• Assist with medication administration after training and certification.
• Observe health changes and report concerns promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in kitchens, bathrooms, and common areas.
• Prepare and serve meals per menus and diet orders; manage food handling and storage.
