Gift of Life Michigan is seeking a Donation Support Specialist who is compassionate and skilled at guiding families through the donation process, advocating for donor authorization, and providing information about organ and tissue donation.

The role involves meeting families in times of grief, collaborating with hospital teams, completing required paperwork, and ensuring respectful communication while upholding core values.

Qualifications

• Combined total of 7 years' work experience and education in relevant fields.
• Experience in mental health-related field, nursing, first responder role, pastoral/spiritual care, or healthcare.

Responsabilités

• Approach families of potential donors onsite and respond to onsite referrals.
• Educate hospital staff and families to obtain authorization for organ, tissue, and eye donation.
• Maintain an authorization rate and complete documentation with the legal decision maker.
• Collaborate with hospital care team to understand family dynamics and overcome barriers.
• Post donation follow-up as scheduled.
• Adhere to department expectations and perform other duties as assigned.
