Job summary

WellCare Homes is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide compassionate, hands-on care in a licensed residential setting in California. The role involves assisting with daily living activities, behavior support, documentation, and coordination with an interdisciplinary team to promote residents' independence and safety.

Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED, a California driver’s license, and CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to obtain DOJ/FBI Live Scan fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• Valid California driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain before providing care.
• Completion of health screening and TB clearance per Title 22 regulations.
• Must meet Title 17/Title 22 licensing and training requirements.
• Must complete DSP 1 and DSP 2 training or pass challenge test within required timeframe.
• Must obtain and maintain required certifications (e.g., RBT if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision to clients with developmental disabilities, including activities of daily living.
• Support clients in achieving IPP/IBSP/Health Care Plan goals.
• Observe and report changes in physical condition, behavior, or safety concerns.
• Maintain confidential documentation and medication logs.
• Safely transport clients to appointments and activities.
• Implement behavior support strategies and crisis intervention.
• Prepare and serve meals following dietary guidelines and maintain a clean home environment.
• Respond to emergencies and ensure safety at all times.
• Communicate professionally with clients, families, and healthcare providers while maintaining confidentiality.
